Here’s some bonus one-pagers. Not sure where these fit in, but making comics have become like my journal the last few weeks.

Gotta do a quick 12-hour shift today 😬 at the hospital and then I can finally rest and recover from the con. And then tomorrow it’s an AFI concert in BK and at some point this week I need to buy groceries and do laundry. Jesus. And, oh yeah, make comics!

Last night my friend El invited me to this mixer in Dumbo to learn about a new graphic novel, Hunger, which I bought and can’t wait to sit down with it. El drew the “courtroom sketch” of the interview with the book’s author. Follow El on social media, she’s awesome!!! #comics

Final day of NYCC. Here’s today’s haul.

I love comics so freaking much. This weekend I was able to use my pro badge to make connections with comic creators at every level of the industry. Regardless of status, we were *all* there to celebrate our art form *with each other*.

Also, Tom Orzechowski gave me a lozenge

Tom Orzechowski, the letterer of X-Men from the 70s to the 90s, and the letterer of Spawn, saw my book because I was showing him how I switched to hand lettering, AND HE ASKED TO KEEP IT!!!!!! He also said they were great character designs! My soul has left my body

Right! I met Liefeld as well and gave him a copy of my comic, which he happily accepted, I just didn’t grab a pic of him with it. But yeah, they’re all just as cool and wonderful as you’d hope they’d be in person. I’m on cloud nine!

Thought for sure that Liefeld wasn’t going to be tabling at Artist Alley so I left all my Liefeld stuff at home. Turned a corner, and there he was. So I ran to the showroom floor, bought a polybagged X-Force #1 and grabbed an sig on the comic. And he signed the DP rookie card! Mission accomplished.

The haul thus far at NYCC. Found a “rarer because it’s newsstand!!!” 🙄 copy of the first appearance of Wolvie’s brown and orange suit. And Spidey 45 for $10 because the cover was taken off lol

So it looks like the big names from comics who are still alive will in fact be at NYCC this year… but each one requires buying a VIP package to get a signature? I suppose this is because they have no time for working the con or they don’t want to tank the value of signed things they sell? I’m bummed

I’m like, “oh yeah, that’s me,” and then I remember I gotta work three twelves over the next three days and then it’s four days of NYCC, work again, and then I got an AFI show to go to in Brooklyn next Wednesday. I probably won’t have another quiet night in for like two weeks.

we need a word for a type of person who spends all their time working to live in a city so they can be near cool things, but they don't actually like going out

Everything I’ve made this year. So far, that is.

Great page! Jim Aparo with Mike W. Barr scripting.

How do you make an X-Men movie in 2025? More specifically, how can Disney make an MCU movie about the Holocaust, genocide, racism, fascism, minorities forming militias, etc. when it would mean having to 1) make a movie that says something, and 2) alienate basically everyone in power right now?

Missed out on reserving a spot for the NYCC Todd MacFarlane signing events because I was at a local comic store talking to a fellow indie cartoonist about his comic and about being a DIY comic maker in NYC.

I’m kinda ok with that.

Today’s haul. That’s the FF annual that Steve Ditko did in the ‘80s!

Day 2 in a row of eating my face off and sleeping a billion hours and I think I’m finally recovered from working three nursing shifts back to back, bookended by two waiting shifts.

Can you imagine how amazing it would’ve been if someone who actually *liked* the X-Men comics made a series of movies set in different decades?

Especially now that the retro stuff in FF was such a hit? This is the exact move you should make when adapting them, but the ones to do it were non-fans.

What movie do you consider “perfect?”

Awesome!!! I’ll check it out!

Love it! I think I have the mp3s on my hard drive. Marvel and DC should try something like that again. Release them as podcast episodes, maybe do a series of five or so to cover a major story arc from like Iron Man and then jump to another one from Hulk. Make it compliment the visuals of the comic.
