Because artwork takes a lot of time and effort. The majority of artists will not work for free because it's so time-consuming and can be very difficult.

Almost no one will work for free, sadly. We might have in the past and when we were starting out, but not anymore. Work in general isn't free.

In Fireborn, yoshis preserve at least one of their child's egg shell fragments, particularly the ones with the parents' signatures on them. Sure, yoshis will also use cameras for baby photos, but they're a lot more valuable.

Yoshis will also often sign their eggs help to identify them from others.
