The Atlantic is the latest news organization that refuses to sign the Pentagon's new press pass policy.

Editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg says the new restrictions violate the First Amendment and the rights of Americans to know how the taxpayer-funded military is being deployed.

Let's be clear: If North Carolina Republicans gerrymander their already illegal map further, they will be sued and they will lose.

I never bluff and I usually win.

Phang: We know that there is a move by 99% of the Republicans locked step with Trump and countless still unidentified billionaires and politicians to keep this from moving forward. How do we know? Because Speaker Mike Johnson continues to refuse to swear in Arizona Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva…

It is pathetic how afraid Australian and UK Labor governments are of the Greens.

If these parties cannot recognise they will need coalitions or preferences going forward, then any successful rise of nuts on the right, is on them.

Be better.

The fact that top Republicans are already fearmongering about, lying about, the No Kings rallies this Saturday, across the US, tells you how worried they are about public pressure and protest against their reactionary, autocratic, anti-American agenda.

Reporting this piece drove home the value of generational turnover in politics. There's an energy that a 50-something Congressperson brings -- to jump in a car and track down their missing constituents -- that even an equally-well-meaning octogenarian is unlikely to match:

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.
