Palestine deserves better than whatever White people think support looks like.

I'm actively in survival mode irl and essentially offline, but as someone who's literally from and in the Middle East: shut
the fuck up.

Every single day, I see Palestinian families torn apart. My family and friends support them financially, emotionally, and physically.
Our family doctor performs life-saving surgery for Palestinian refugees almost every other day, pro bono. Many of them still have family back home who are either dead or starving. Palestine has been in my heart and in my blood since before any of you could find it on a map.

If you're out here cherry-picking and hyperbolising non-issues to vilify normal people going about their days while actively ignoring the people actively advocating for genocide, SA, and the murder of children, then you don't understand what an existential issue is.

Frankly, I don't expect most White people to understand what an existential issue looks
like nor how to respond to it, but here's a hint: it's not by being a dickhead on the internet. Congratulations: you've benefited no one but yourself, all while waving watermelon emojis in your bios: symbols you only discovered in October 2023.

Stop acting like you know shit about supporting Palestine, and learn from the people who've been doing it for literal decades. Being an asshole on the internet over innocent oversights doesn't help Palestine. Donations, E-Sims, supporting refugees, raising awareness, lobbying your politicians, protesting, boycotting companies and institutions, doing your homework and research to educate yourself, fighting Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism-all of these are infinitely better uses of your time than being an ass.

I’m sorry to the people I’ve worried. I’ll be back in due time.

I'm not sure why I'm writing this. Part of it is an explanation, I suppose, for why l've been offline and not replying to messages. Maybe the other part is catharsis. On the 11th, 1 found out that my childhood best friend passed away. She was healthy and spent her last night happy with her family. She just didn't wake up. Just like that, she was gone.
She was an angel, in every sense of the word. Whenever she'd see me, she'd say
"habibti!" She would always give me the biggest smile and an even bigger hug.

When I went to her funeral prayer, I was met with people I hadn't seen in years. People who had bullied us both relentlessly. A part of me wanted to scream at them that they had no right to be here, because they were never her friends, and they had only ever made her miserable, but it also gave me perspective. At the end of the day, we were all aching for the same beautiful soul. It didn't matter whether it was out of guilt or grief. Neither would bring her back.

My mental and physical health took a major hit in the aftermath. I was on autopilot and in shock at first. Eventually, I developed a terrible migraine. It manifested with aphasia, and I was taken to the hospital in the fear of it being a stroke. Thankfully it wasn't. I've since been treated and discharged, but I just can't find it in me to function. I know so many of you have sent kind, loving messages, and they're an immense comfort. I just can't bring myself to reply. I can't bring myself to function in this new reality. Maybe in time, but not yet.

I appreciate everyone's kindness, grace, and patience. I spend a lot of time telling others to prioritise their wellbeing, and l've learnt the hard way that I need to take a leaf out of my own book. All things pass.
Time is a reliable companion, always marching onward. Someday, I might find a new normal in which I can exist. In the meantime, be well, take care of yourselves, and cherish your friends.
