Hybrids, hybrids, hybrids!

Plenty of #TTC hybrid electric buses, old and new alike, plow the streets up in the Wilson region of North York! A brief August weekend outing offered quite a lot to experience.

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) 2006 Orion 07.501 HEV 1021 crosses the Jane Street and Wilson Avenue intersection, en route to Jane station. Its destination board reads "935 JANE EXPRESS TO JANE STATION."

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) 2023 New Flyer XDE40 7220 passing along Jane Street. Its destination board reads "EXPRESS NETWORK."

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) 2008 Orion 07.501 NG HEV 1420 runs northbound on Wilson Avenue, soon to arrive at its next stop. Its destination board reads "165 WESTON RD NORTH TO STEELES."

Good call. While deploying rail replacement buses was a good idea, the amount of buses on the 18L unsurprisingly didn't cope too well with all the riders in my opinion. Some buses only made a single stop at Clarkson (from what I witnessed on the 28th) before running non-stop to Union from Oakville.

Placing a focus on photo for my July visit up to Hamilton's #HamiltonStreetRailway, I was able to get quite some variety in the locations I snapped transit photos at on this day.

End of an era...

The last of the #TTC 2006 Orion VII HEVs were officially retired from service on September 11th, 2025. These workhorses will be missed!

Pretty excited to finally branch out to more cities in the province one day by car! You can only go so far with public transit before either fare prices start slipping out of budget, or public transit can't take you there... 🙈
