i think one of anri's unexpected charm points is that she might appear unpredictable and unapproachable to strangers, but once you know her well enough she becomes the exact opposite: almost painfully predictable, and very easily approachable. get yourself a brooding merc who's lowkey a sweetheart.

this is why she works so well in scenes with ppl who do have a very firm moral compass and who can figure out how to resolve a situation peacefully. she's the equivalent of an attack dog- violent and dangerous, but loyal and obedient to whoever is holding the leash... if anyone *is*.

two wrongs don't make a right, but someone's gotta get their hands dirty, and she'd rather have that be herself than someone who never did those things before. that there might be another way often doesn't cross her mind, and when it does, she struggles with figuring out how to proceed.

she knows that threatening, hurting and killing people is wrong, but it's all she learned growing up, so those are her main problem-solving tools. need to earn someone's trust to gain access to something for a good cause? easier to threaten or beat them, and they're in the way anyway.

anri is stuck in a balancing act between her violent nature as a result of her past, and her desire to "do good" in the present. making the world a better place is hard when the only tool your hands have ever held is a sword; not every problem has a bad guy you can kill at it's core.
