a thousand percent — and I find this is one of the best parts about running your own company. You have complete freedom to act ethically and decently, and you aren’t forced to make or defend someone else’s decisions or ways of doing things

I like John Mackey’s Conscious Capitalism take on this — he advocates for maximizing “stakeholder value,” which includes investors, employees, customers, community, and more.

(Of course he then sold to Amazon, which hardly espouses the same values, so 🤷‍♀️. But it’s still a nice idea.)
