He's one of the elite eight MLB players to join the exclusive 300-300 club, with over 300 home runs and 300 stolen bases.

Dawson's career is a testament to his extraordinary talent, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the game.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dawson hit .300 in five seasons, knocked in 100 RBIs four times, and launched at least 20 home runs in 13 different seasons. Early in his career, he was a base-stealing dynamo, swiping 30 bases in three separate seasons.
He had previously finished second in the MVP race in 1981 and 1983 with #Montreal, demonstrating his consistent excellence even when playing away from the U.S. spotlight and its national attention.
The Hawk's first season with an American club caught the attention of the American media, as he signed a blank check to join the #Chicago #Cubs in 1987. The gamble paid off, as he hit 49 home runs, leading the league that season, and accumulated 137 runs batted in, winning the MVP.
With a prime career spent patrolling the outfield, primarily for the #Expos, Dawson made his mark as a powerhouse. His prowess on the field earned him 8 All-Star selections.

He burst onto the scene in 1977, snatching the NL Rookie of the Year title after hitting .282 with 19 home runs and 65 RBIs.

7/ Carl Morton died on April 12, 1983 at the age of 39 when he collapsed after a jog and died of a heart attack. His story is a reminder of the highs and lows of a baseball career. Gone too soon, but forever remembered as one of the Expos OG!
6/ As a hitter, although he only posted a .156 batting average (86-for-551), he did hit 7 HRs & 42 RBI. He had a career-high 3 HRs & 15 RBI in '73. Defensively, he was above average with a .975 fielding percentage, which was 26 points better than the league average for pitchers.
5/ Despite his stellar rookie season, control issues plagued Morton in subsequent years, leading to a decline in performance. Morton later joined the Atlanta Braves before retiring in 1976. His journey in baseball, though marked by ups and downs, remains inspirational.
4/Stellar Rookie Season: In '70, Carl Morton dazzled with an 18-11 record and a 3.60 ERA for the last-place Expos, standing out even amid team struggles. Morton's performance earned him the NL ROY, beating out Reds' Bernie Carbo. He even got votes for the Cy Young and MVP awards!
3/Morton’s MLB debut on April 11, 1969, saw him pitch nine scoreless innings. Though the Expos fell to the Cubs in a nail-biting 12th inning, losing 1–0, Carl’s potential was undeniable. He went 0-3 with a 4.60 ERA in 29.1 innings over 8 games in '69, striking out 16, walking 18.
2/ From Outfield to Pitching: Originally an outfielder in the Braves organization, Morton was drafted by the Expos in 1968 and made the bold switch to pitching. Talk about versatility!

Unfortunately, injuries, drug addiction and other challenges prevented him from fully realizing that potential. It's always tough to see such promise not fully realized, but his contributions to the game and memorable moments with #Montreal still hold a special place in #baseballhistory!
He truly had immense talent, with one of the most powerful & accurate throwing arms ever seen. He was a standout for the #Expos, earning a Gold Glove in ‘78 & an All-Star selection in ‘77. His potential was undeniable & fans who watched him play could see that he had all the tools to be a superstar!
Ellis Valentine was a powerhouse of talent, a true diamond in the rough. It’s a real heartbreaker that his incredible potential never fully came to fruition. 🌠⚾️
