Me too... and one of my kids is NOT happy about it!
Mike Johnson refuses to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva — because her vote could force the House to release the Epstein Files. The GOP is doing everything they can to keep Trump's Epstein cover-up going.
I am saying the same thing, but I teach middle school! #langchat
Yes! Who can advise us on this!?
Trying to cement another best practice into my repertoire this year. Ss said these were tough, which was my goal. They were shocked when I explained that hard Qs are actually better for retrieval! @retrievelearn.bsky.social #langchat

The Israeli military said on Monday that it had received the 20 remaining living hostages released by Hamas under the terms of the cease-fire deal.

On today's episode of "The Daily," Rachel Abrams speaks to families of those hostages, and to other Israelis, about the long-anticipated moment.
Two Years Later, Israel’s Last Hostages Return
Families of the released captives spoke of their emotions as their loved ones headed home.

A student whose home language is French is frustrated by their lower score on writing assessments. I'm hoping studying these exemplars will help. How do you build your collection of exemplars and how do you use them with students? #langchat
When you do the thing you know you should do but never manage to actually do (studying exemplars 🥇)... next thing you know, I'll be leaving time for exit tickets ⏰!!! #langchat
Wanna come observe for a morning? Strict + funny (only at my own expense!) is my MO. Have you read Tools for Teaching by Fred Jones?
Still learning how to train 6th graders (in year 7 of teaching them!?). This slide felt heavy-handed and ridiculous to me, but has been extremely effective. #langchat
I have updated my brain break slide and I am quite pleased with the results. #langchat
My ePals collaborating teacher had her French 6th graders make notebook covers for English class, and my 6th graders are to vote on their favorites! I think my students will be surprised by the small place of the US in French students' imagination (just a 🌭 & 🚚!). 🤣 #langchat #fle
Dry erase markers work even better, but may raise the custodians' ire. Don't ask me how I know this!
Favorite classroom organization hack (discovered during COVID!): put tape to indicate where desks go in your classroom. Then direct students to push desks back to their proper location anytime! Helpful when you've got a lot of kids and backpacks navigating a too-small space. #langchat
I feel like maybe it started on the FB page for French teachers? I've got a version of it!
Plenty of opportunities to practice this in middle school, too (although surely not on par with what you've seen!).
Our district just tells us, "If it's sticky and not yours, don't touch it!" 😘
Classroom set-up complete!

A 6th grade ELA teacher helped me figure out how to hang the francophone flags in an attractive & non-chaotic manner, I reused my composition books for a 4th year of L1 reflective journaling, and I've already had a canary in the coalmine moment. #langchat
