we use so many synthetic fertilizers and outside inputs to feed our lawns and gardens. at the same time, we literally throw away the nutrients that are cycling through naturally
very crude illustration of how plants fit into the nitrogen cycle. all plants need nitrogen to grow, but most nitrogen is not usable to them. “conventionally” (aka since mass agriculture and synthetic fertilizers were invented) we add fertilizer to stimulate growth. plants uptake nitrogen into their tissues and, when those tissues die, bacteria help return those nutrients to a usable form in the soil thru the decomposition process. this cycle gets majorly interrupted when we bag up the leaves, over-tidy the soil surface around our plants, etc — and then we have to add those outside inputs back in

full disclosure: all of this is 1000x more complex in real life
the culture war has just pushed me further towards being a woowoo pervert marxist tbqh
oh i feel this SO hard. the idea that you have to Earn your right to draw by practicing to “perfection” first really, really grates on me

your email finds me deeply unwell. teetering on the edge really
all of this is making me so sad and angry
(especially colonized communities who never choose the system that they live under, which creates the conditions for their lifeways to be eroded and their communities to be displaced)
listennnn. i’m from alaska. by and large, i hate the government.

but this year has been crystallizing a lot of my thoughts about the needs government SHOULD fill. an instrument of authoritarian power vs. a distributive network that has deeply enshrined responsibility to take care of its people.
conservatives want the takeaway to be “what’s government good for? who even needs it?”

but large-scale crises are where centralized resources and aid distribution are needed most. looks like the future holds a lot of local organizing and re-inventing the wheel bc they’ve left us all in the dark
the state of alaska and local orgs ARE responding, but these communities are going to need a lot of helping rebuilding and, in many cases, relocating

these are native villages that’ve been sounding the alarm about climate change for years

we can rely on the fed gov to help in crisis less than ever
all we can do is help each other

as far as i can see, the federal government hasn’t even responded this disaster yet. trump can’t even be bothered to say something insulting or lob a paper towel for a photo op. his admin has already systematically defunded resources for these communities this year
thinking about the storm in western alaska and all the communities affected. i don’t really have a platform for fundraising via my art, but i would so strongly encourage people to donate what you can to the relief efforts

A pretty remarkable organization that has been able to mobilize worldwide and were on the ground in Alaska during the flooding in 2022 as well

my poor baby is going through it with health stuff right now and the only way to help him feel better is to draw your character fucking the lil faun boy raw
If you have the desire to draw a top for the poor boy, here’s a version with some room to do just that 🙏

he isn’t picky, all are welcome!
a repeat of the last drawing except his expression has been modified to match what it would be were he getting fucked a repeat of the last drawing except with room to draw someone standing behind Ellis.

I would literally love if people attempted this silly art meme/challenge. If you have any questions about it, just DM me!

A digital drawing of a frog standing on a bright red background. The frog is holding a sign that says “ICE out of Portland”. The frog looks mad.
just have to say that my partner ordered some of your pieces recently and your merch is astoundingly high quality (also so nicely packaged)!!!
don’t worry there’s an intimacy coordinator on-site

"Transsexuality is bourgeois" reflects the common belief that medicine, technology, and any improvements to quality of life are owed to capitalism. The reality is that capitalism holds these improvements hostage for the sake of wealth.

Origin of Seal

A fellow rises from the sea,
from the waves uplifts himself,
who counts the isles of the sea,
keeps watch on the water’s fish.
O seal, the portly boy,
that roves around the sea,
rough creature of the ocean field,
thy father was trash,
thy mother was trash,
thou art trash thyself.
