Trump has shredded the Constitution. He's taken an axe to checks and balances. Now he's literally taking a bulldozer to the White House to build a ballroom while the government is shut down. When we say "No Kings," this is why.
And the arch he's planning!

General strikes are dangerous, risky, and costly. Sometimes, you “end up poorer and weaker,” yes. But sometimes you end up with rights, wages, dignity, and a seat at the table... or you remind the rulers that their power is not absolute. We show each other, and ourselves, that we're not alone.
As long as it isn't hurting anyone (including yourself), I am all for you doing whatever you need to do to cope right now.

People should absolutely be writing about how ICE's occupation of their cities is transforming life in these places, and they should be publishing it in print on paper - not just social media posts. There needs to be a record of this. Things are changing in measurable ways for the worse every day.
Someone seriously needs to grab Mike Johnson by the ear and drag him back to work. Where are the adults?
First they took the hatchet to NWS, NOAA, CDC, and all the rest through DOGE and direct firings; now, with the manufactured “crisis” of the shutdown, they claim necessity to finish the purge by laying off thousands more. The speed of this coup is devastating.
Ask yourself what happens if he never goes back. Democracy grinds to a halt, and there's more power right where Stephen Miller and The Heritage Foundation want it: in the presidency. Project 2025 is in full swing, and bulldozing our democracy while most of the country fixates on the Epstein files.
Johnson and the House GOP aren’t “protecting” anyone from the Epstein files. Epstein has been nothing but a distraction since Musk's "bombshell post." The real agenda is shutting down democracy, stalling government, and holding millions hostage for raw political power. Don’t fall for it.
Gandhi didn’t get permission from the British Raj to march to the sea. Civil rights movement didn’t ask Bull Connor for a parade permit. Power concedes nothing unless forced, & when those in power control all the levers—including rules about protest itself—obedience just perpetuates the status quo.
The only way to counter authoritarian hostage-taking is collective refusal to comply with the manufactured crisis.
Now we need a sustained protest in Louisiana at Speaker Johnson's state office demanding he negotiate, and a nationwide General Strike.
One man is holding the entire country hostage, & he’s doing it on purpose. This is how authoritarian power actually works, not through majority rule, but by capturing the levers of process, refusing to compromise, & lying about it so loudly & relentlessly that people start to doubt their own eyes.
It's not the Republicans, & definitely not the Democrats. Mike Johnson is choosing to personally hold the US Govt, the US economy, and the American people's survival hostage. Not by accident, not by gridlock, but by deliberate, strategic choice. Simply because he can. Don't let them gaslight anyone!
When the Republican Speaker of the house refuses to call the House back into session, when he refuses to allow even the possibility of compromise or negotiation, it is Mike Johnson himself solely holding the government (and government employee pay, and SNAP benefits) hostage to get his way.
Stephen Miller has always been the ideological engine behind Trump’s most openly white nationalist, proto-Nazi policies. “Goebbels of the Cabinet” is dead-on. And honestly, it’s the kind of direct language more people should be using.
It’s not that the Epstein story isn’t real or important. It’s that it functions as spectacle while the foundations are crumbling. The system loves when public anger focuses on already-despised villains, or fixates on scandal, instead of the institutions & everyday policies doing damage right now.
If our non-MAGA politicians spent a tenth as much effort defending democracy, workers, and basic decency as they do grandstanding over scandals they’ll never resolve, we’d be in a different place right now.
New developments in my 3 year Epstein investigation, this time regarding JP Morgan Chase and its CEO, Jamie Dimon. This is a long thread, but worth sticking around for.
Authoritarianism’s magic trick: make the base feel powerful by proxy, even as their actual power gets stripped away. And they just keep on cheering their own demise.
Absolutely! And make no mistake, President Poop *is* a malignant narcissist! And so are most of his flying monkeys.
