You gave them what they wanted, but they kept demanding more? Who could have possibly seen that coming?

Bets on how long it takes her to flip back because she wasn't welcomed with open arms?

Heads-up to folks in college & university spaces and communities!
Despite two federal court rulings today, students in higher education may face a potential delay in SNAP benefits this weekend, and communities will likely experience a spike in hunger. Our new guide offers practical steps to support students during this time: hope.temple.edu/hope-blog/sn...

There are likely to be appeals, which will delay things. If they ultimately lose, there's still the possibility they slow walk complying. Per some policy folks, Trump's latest rant post suggests the needle is moving on him caving, but it'll still take time for benefits to be disbursed once funded.
Similar to Hall of Fame voting (albeit more macabre), I will only listen to unbanning arguments 5 years after every member of the RC & CAG have passed on. The community writ large can sit with its actions til then.

With funding for US Food Assistance programs running out, I'm giving away one Edge of Eternities Booster Box to a random entrant who has donated to a local food pantry. The winner and four runners up will also get a copy of the Magic Cookbook.

See rules in next posts. Closes at midnight on 11/3.
Their system probably can't count that high.

OK, now that I am back at my computer to do this right.

We're going to have a fantastic talk hosted by the @irpwisc.bsky.social on student loan debt and how the issue is burdensome and aspects of well-being.

For a teaser, I am going to talk about suicidal ideation + what forgiveness means.

🚨 42 million Americans—including 1.1 million college students—will see their November SNAP benefits halted or delayed as the Administration refuses to release emergency funds during the shutdown.

Hunger is not inevitable—it’s a policy choice. Read our statement: hope.temple.edu/newsroom/sta...

Did you know that during his first term, Trump put the student loan pause into effect because they believed there was going to be a severe recession and joblessness due to the COVID pandemic?

Any Minneapolis folks, which food banks do you think need more eyes on them/help?

I'd encourage people for other areas to post this too. And from what I'm learning. If you can do money do money (versus canned goods/food) as the banks get deals/stretch dollars

If the federal shutdown continues, 42 million Americans will not receive new SNAP benefits after October 31st. It is anticipated full benefits will be issued as quickly as possible once federal operations resume.

Perhaps its the whole "growing up in poverty" thing but folks losing their SNAP is a significantly bigger deal then a secret lair drop.

Like as someone who grew up on SNAP, this is a very terrifying time period for many.

Im serious, if ya'll have leftover funds; GO TO A FOOD BANK!
Yall know there are poor ppl who play MTG, right? Like poor to the point where a couple hours of their day and a few bus fares is actually problomatic, right? Ive been building decks from donated cards and very few purchases for the last 5 years. Yall need to check your fucking privileges. Im losong
