I have them within a 15 minute walk from my house. I was just curious where in Dundee you actually saw them since most birders tend to share sightings and give each other advice etc.

I was sea watching when I heard a female BLACK GROUSE calling at Auchmithie cliffs today. I watched it fly beind a gorse bush and out if sight. I am confused but so damn elated.

I had to go further north for a pied flycatcher, up near Aviemore. Plenty of reds in up the back of Esk and blacks a few glens west

I am not a shooter, I have just worked loosely within the industry so I can't answer why people do it. I can just tell you the benefits of doing it. And you should get out more if you miss harriers in the glens

Couple of things to mention here.

If the woman at raptor persucution gets her way then thousands of people in the UK would be unemployed, homeless etc.

As a conservationist (and birder) I have seen 1st hand the benefits of a managed estate compared to the barren wastelands of non managed estates.
