I have that. It still works!

Does it matter? 😄

If you are into electronic music and modular synths, you should check out Hélène Vogelsinger’s music: www.youtube.com/@HeleneVogel...

Her ongoing series, “Forgotten Futures”, is just mesmerising.

I remember when technology gave us great products that were useful to us without having to know everything about us.

Meanwhile, the other day a reader of my blog told me something that’s happening at the company they work for. After laying 15 people off to replace them with ‘AI’ tools managed by some of the remaining workforce, they are now re-hiring. Hmmm. I wonder what went wrong… 😉

I’ve started noticing that one every two/three ads on YouTube is now about ‘AI’. Pushing a product or service, telling viewers stuff like “It’s important to know AI for your job” etc. Goodness, the industry is really getting desperate.

I keep reporting these ads as spam. *smirk*

But the problem is, if the battery life of a new iPhone Air is similar to the one of a 3-4-year-old iPhone *now*, how’s it going to be 2 or 3 years from now? You guessed right — bad.
morrick.bsky.social
Just one note. Speaking of the Air’s battery, Dave compares it with the likely battery life of older iPhones, saying that if you’re upgrading from an older model, you’ll find the Air’s battery life to be okay.

“The novelty of the thinness of this phone wears off pretty quickly. I'm wrapping up week 2 and it's still like, every time I pick it up I'm like, this is super-thin! This is awesome! But I don't feel like my life has changed all that much going from a very thin phone to an extremely thin phone.”

Maybe my favourite, concise review of the iPhone Air from a big YouTuber. Dave is always very practical and honest in pointing out certain things:

Gotta love the very believable email notification from APP1E.COM that my “i-cloud” account is blocked and that I have to click here to magically reactivate it.

(Message sent to my iCloud email, by the way, how’s that possible!?! 😄)

YouTube always thanks me for leaving feedback that makes “the YouTube experience better”.

Do you know what would make YouTube's experience better? Not taking down creators’ videos by mistake (thanks to stupid moderation bots) and doubling down on your wrong decision

Never mind, I just saw this in the video description:

"How this content was made
Altered or synthetic content.
Sound and visuals in this video were digitally produced or significantly edited."

Sigh.

I ‘love’ this security recommendation from Google. They ask a yes/no question, but the only option I can select is ‘Remove’. If I want to keep things as they are, I have to ignore this. If I do so, a badge with a '!' sign remains placed near my account avatar, and it’s annoying, and Google knows it.

I LOVE this playlist of Japanese city pop, and the accompanying image. I wish I knew more about the photo or the photographer. Searching the web I get similar city portraits, almost suggesting they’re all part of an artist’s portfolio. If you find more, let me know.

One of my favourite whiskies, and one of my favourite actors, plus a pinch of absurdism.

What a recipe.

>> The idea of volume was much more important than quality. ‘Did you have a good meal?’, ‘Yeah, they gave me all the shrimp you could eat!’ That's not a... That's really silly. You know, bulk. It explains a lot about our culture.

After eating some exquisitely prepared sushi and experienced the sake, Bourdain talks about American food culture:

- For us, restaurants are like gas stations. You pull in, you fill up, and you move on, preferably as quickly as possible. >>

>> I’d really love to serve them half-baked pies and undercooked fish, and wait for them to say ‘overall it’s fine’.

Me: Well, maybe they would actually give you that feedback, LOL

Friend: And that’s because THEY HAVE NO TASTE.

Me: You’re starting to sound like Steve Jobs. 🤣

Speaking of cooks.

Friend in chat (he’s a cook): “I love those who say ‘Yeah, iOS 26 has some issues and it still needs some time in the oven, but overall it’s fine, what’s the big deal…’ Since they bring up the cooking analogy… >>

Watching Anthony Bourdain, in Tokyo, circa 2002. Taking it all in. It feels like another world, another goddamn timeline, even.
