So when I say YEARS, I mean YEARS, because I have characters that I created over 20 years ago. And they still live rent free in my head.

Even Lucian initially was a side character, protagonist’s uncle, with questionable connections, a wild life and a lonely sad death. So I kept him in the background for a long time, unsure what to do with him.

I don’t even know how to fully explain this process, but I very rarely have a specific source of inspiration (and even then, I give the character several years to develop on their own).

I should probably write a post sometime about my process for creating and writing characters, but in short, it’s always long; they require years of thinking and rewriting for the character to develop its own details. Because I don’t want to rush to fill them out.

Literally. I always feel like a grandma putting on glasses, squinting while reading and trying to figure out what’s going on… :’D Especially when you’re writing with slang, abbreviations or local memes from a certain fandom.

Guys, when you ask "were you inspired by *insert any name of show/game/youtuber/comic/etc* when creating your characters?"… 99% of the time I don’t even know what you’re talking about.

Lucian doesn't actually sleep in a coffin, it was a Halloween special. But when I drew him sleeping, some people said “That's why vampires sleep in coffins” and I said “Yeah, but even if he did, it wouldn't help him at all”

Also starting this month, I'll start making more experimental designs, like insects, reptiles and fish. Most likely in addition to the usual monthly packs. I've been getting a lot of these requests for a while now and I want to give them a try!
