Annie Hall is one of the all-time greatest comedic roles and that's largely thanks to Diane Keaton, who brought such a perfect delivery to her iconic lines. Also wonderful in Reds, the Godfather trilogy, Father of the Bride and so much else. What a legend.
Diane Keaton as Annie Hall in "Annie Hall" Steve Martin as George Banks and Diane Keaton as Nina Banks in "Father of the Bride" Diane Keaton as Louise Bryant in "Reds"

As I've said before, too many social media accounts use the Michael Scott "No" gif to react to news of family/children's films they are not under any obligation to watch.

I didn't think the scene was that hilarious the first time, but I especially dislike that clip now.

The smugness on this ad is through the roof, lol.

Reminds me of the DuckTales movie promo/demo tape shading the Ninja Turtles:

"Oh, so Palestinians don't have families?" is such a bad faith reading of this statement.

He's clearly referring to the families of October 7 hostages and every civilian in Gaza and talking about the specific suffering they have felt these past two years.

My statement on Middle East peace
A white graphic with a blue border includes the following text:

My Statement on Middle East Peace
October 9, 2025

After two years of unimaginable loss and suffering for Israeli families and the people of Gaza, we should all be encouraged and relieved that an end to the conflict is within sight; that those hostages still being held will be reunited with their families; and that vital aid can start reaching those inside Gaza whose lives have been shattered. More than that, though, it now falls on Israelis and Palestinians, with the support of the U.S. and the entire world community, to begin the hard task of rebuilding Gaza – and to commit to a process that, by recognizing the common humanity and basic rights of both peoples, can achieve a lasting peace.

Del Toro recently said that if he had an animation studio, he would produce Tartakovsky's "Black Knight." While not a stop-motion film, I wonder if he will consider doing it under this studio. Or maybe convince Netflix to pick it up.

You know, the irony of people using the Michael Scott No gif to react to any movie or television show announcement they don't like is that the context of that scene is that Michael reacts with a childish tantrum to Toby innocently saying hello.

You know what? Throw in the '90s tv-movie with Shelley Long, too.

There's a DVD double feature of the '60s Parent Trap paired with the made-for-TV Parent Trap II, so Disney isn't opposed to bundling their theatrical and tv-movies together.

My review of "Tron: Ares", which doesn't reach the heights of the first two movies, but there is still a decent amount of creativity and solid action sequences as the Grid and our world combine: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ttse...

Me whenever I talk about the "Tron" franchise:

Having seen the movie now, I can confirm it is not a reboot, but a direct sequel to Tron: Legacy that does acknowledge the events and characters in that film.

Still crazy Disney looked at how much money Top Gun: Maverick made and went "eh, let's just give that guy a courtesy EP credit."

If I have learned anything these past two years, it's that instead of sitting down and having an adult conversation about how to resolve a problem, a lot of people prefer to just yell and name-call.
mrcoat.bsky.social
Seriously, Disney Adults will be the first to criticise Bob Iger when he says or does something stupid, like his comments during the 2023 writers strike.

And even when talking nostalgically about some parts of Eisner's tenure, we still remember him peeving off Roy Disney and Steve Jobs.

And what I really appreciate about "Luca" is that it was this story mostly about these two boys who want to win a Vespa. It had the kind of story that wouldn't be out of place in "Peanuts" or "Dennis the Menace" or other comics about children participating in child-like activities.

Watching "Turning Red", I couldn't help but think that so many of the things that made that movie delightfully unique within the Pixar catalogue and a great snapshot of the awkwardness of being a teenager would have been micro-managed and diluted under Lasseter's watch.
mrcoat.bsky.social
I also saw a comment today of someone saying that Pixar's current problems would be solved if Lasseter came back.

I notice whenever I see someone say that, they never follow it up with what they think of the movies he's produced at Skydance.

If a genie granted me a wish to change anything in modern filmmaking, I would wish for more lighting on sets. Seriously, why are productions so stingy with light bulbs nowadays? letterboxd.com/mrcoat/film/...
