Are you the type of gamer who cares about achievements or are you the self-driven gamer like Asumi

Folks who regular my streams probably know this already but I really like talking about code.

More details in replies but I want to answer questions about getting into programming, language support, tooling, code review and other things!

Got any curious questions? Please ask!

The compiler would essentially analyze and translate your code into some kind of executable the computer could understand. The compiler could also handle opening the web browser on different systems, and other optimizations you don't care about in the moment. (2/2)

Basically a program that turns the code you write into the code that actually runs on the machine.

Say you wrote your own language and a program in that language that is supposed to open goatse on your web browser. (1/2)

gems are a precious resource these days

Knowing what you want to code will usually give you a headstart on where to start looking.

Starting out can be as simple as automating something tedious you do on your PC. eg: How about being able to launch your entire stream setup with a single command? Maybe a keyboard shortcut?

Honestly if you find any cool articles about modern COBOL dev, or how folks make a fossil of a programming language bearable in modern day systems I would love to read them!

Considering Y2K only actually happened in the Guilty Gear universe COBOL is somehow still cooking.

If you're ok with working in finance there's probably a TON of bank to be made, but I personally wouldn't touch COBOL or another fintech job with a 40ft pole. Not my scene.

Other languages I've worked with for at least a year are C++, Java, Scala, Objective-C, C#/F# and Rust.

I'm really curious to play around with Zig and Elixir more but currently it's just something I'm reading about when I'm bored in meetings.

I recently did an impromptu React Andy bit watching a video talking about frustrations with Crunchyroll's absolutely cooked subtitle/closed caption situation and added some really gnarly technical context.

I've been keeping all the code for this on my GitHub: github.com/jttoddy/nano...

I initially started writing everything in Native Swift, but pivoted to Nodejs just to get a prototype up off the ground. Eventually I would like the entire backend to be Swift and will slowly port work across.

The code in the background there is just a screenshot I took of a fuckaround project I've been building out in my spare time to write my own stream server I can build custom widgets off.

The plan is to build, deploy and entirely own my own stream layouts, custom chat UI, etc. open source!

I've been through a TON of different programming languages over the years, being first introduced with Actionscript 2 and Javascript in middle school.

Nowadays I'm mostly required to write Typescript, Kotlin, Swift and Ruby.

I've been working as a software engineer for about 10 years now writing all kinds of programs and scripts for start ups, finance, full-stack web and mobile apps as well as video streaming services.

sometimes you get commissioned to draw northernlion as lu bu and I think that's cool
a commissioned pixel art drawing of the streamer northernlion dressed up as the chinese military general lu bu as he is depicted in the dynasty warriors series of games wearing purple and dark metal armors with a red cape, red head dress and headphones. his spear has a microphone instead of a bladed tip and behind him is a desaturated series of flames.

Nervously going up to the exhausted Falcom Brainworm Store clerk asking where the Chester Stoddart X Olivier Lenheim BL is like it isn't the fourth time they've been asked this today.

I know porting Ys vs Trails to PC was going to be a herculean task and overall executed really well but those upscaled/interpolated art assets look real goofy.
