I've heard the idea that the 94 ban was what propelled the ar platform to popularity, I'm expecting to see a big rise in glock clones and 3dp glock kits if this ban ever actually goes into effect.

Bet Glock sales 📈 right now in CA. Kind of like before the WA ban everyone was racing to their closest gun store for AR’s & mags. Just look at the AR platform’s popularity before & after the 94 ban. Turns out when tyrants crack down with authoritarian bans it makes people want them way more.

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

Guns belong in the hands of civilians because the government should not have a monopoly on violence. The right to armed defense belongs to everyone.

Yeah that worked so well when we banned alcohol in the 1920s and definitely didn't create a booming secondary market. Totally didn't encourage people to make their own alcohol and distribute it. All alcohol just ceased to exist and was never a problem again.

An armed population is harder to oppress. This is the worst time possible to try and push laws that restrict the rights of your citizens.

We won’t let the conversation around gun violence go away.

I’m committed to passing legislation that meets the expectations of Minnesotans.

Our offer to Republicans addresses mental health, school safety, support for law enforcement, and most importantly, common sense gun laws.

5 leading gun violence trackers use 5 different definitions of mass shooting, leading to inconsistent reports. This allows for media to use whatever source fits the agenda they want to push.
The same goes for "assault weapon", there is no universal definition so people can cook the books.

Whoever thinks it's cool that we just renamed the DoD to the Department of Whore should have their firstborn drafted to the front lines of whatever war we start.

Agreed. A capable gun, enough ammunition to feed it, the training to use it properly, and medical equipment and knowledge to patch holes are all going to be very important. People don't think enough about their consumables and usually don't plan ahead long term.

I’ve learned something over the past 8 months:

Buy ammo. A LOT. It’s even more important to have than the gun apparently.

Wanted to share!

From what I can find the gun homicide rate stayed low until around 2014 when it started to rise again. Violent crime as a whole kept declining after the AWB expired in 2004.

How many would-be mass shooters decided to go home cause they couldn't buy a rifle with a flash hider? How many went "Dang, I can't legally buy a gun with a bayonet mount to kill people with"?

A study ordered by the DoJ about the AWB came back with inconclusive results.

regular people have no reason to make their cars quieter and nobody uses them on the roads because i've never been on a road and have no clue what i'm talking about
nemrtvi.bsky.social
Regular people use suppressors to make it less loud for themselves and others. Suppressors aren't needed for shooting but they're nice to have, especially at indoor ranges.

It's dumb to sue a company because some dumbass misused their product. Guns aren't the only industry with such protections.

The 1994 AWB prohibited rifles that had both a pistol grip and a bayonet lug. It banned pistols with a heat shroud that weighed too much. It banned shotguns with adjustable stocks and pistol grips.

The law's terms were arbitrary and based on what sounded scary to lawmakers.
nemrtvi.bsky.social
"Block Silencer Dergulation" is stupid cause suppressors are hearing protection. They don't make guns silent like Hollywood.

"Repeal Gun Industry Immunity" is an attempt to let people sue gunmakers for the misuse of their products.

"Smart Guns" are unreliable, there's a reason they aren't popular.
nemrtvi.bsky.social
Gun safety risks, gun storage and safe gun training is already taught to new gun owners at every range I've ever visited.

"Prohibit Assault Weapons" is stupid as a suggestion because there is no one definition for an assault weapon and the term usually means "scary black gun with plastic."
