The House just passed its budget resolution, so reconciliation is now officially underway. This is their bill to destroy Medicaid and SNAP while cutting taxes disproportionately for the rich.

THIS IS VERY REAL and can be enacted even if all Ds vote no.

Thread on what's to come and WHERE TO FIGHT.
They did pull a bunch of grants from the university already. You should read what the Princeton president wrote about the attack on universities.
This is the town of Princeton, not the university
I know-I had no sense how big it was until I went up. Then: holy sh**!

Academic Skyers: I am compiling a list of policies and statements from various universities about how they are handling the "pause" in terms of stopping expenditures (or not).

Please respond to this post with your institution and materials.

THANK YOU!
Our cat has a bad upper respiratory infection. Indoor cat, no other pets. Spouse and I both had upper respiratory infections that lasted a month, just now recovered. Vet is skeptical, says human-cat transmission is unlikely. Really? Virus folks?
I’m sorry. Sometimes that’s a good way to spend a day. Letting your brain rest.
Also measles is crazy contagious. A person with the flu infects ~1-2 other people, COVID ~2-3. Measles? ~12-18.
I was vaccinated in the 70s and again in the 80s and had no detectable titer in 2019. We don’t have a lot of data on how long vaccine immunity lasts, but it’s not crazy to imagine that “your whole life” is more than can be promised for 1-2 injections.
“everyone knows this immune-brain stuff is bullshit and if you want to get a job you shouldn’t work on it”
There is only one student doing this and they are verifiably very ill. So this seems less likely, though not impossible.
So…a student is taking pictures of the final exam with their phone. Is this step one of chatGPT telling them the answers? Or are they just memorializing my incredible work as an exam-writer?
No, just one I found guiding a wildlife walk. I did raise some from eggs that were going to be destroyed because of where they were laid. I released them all.
How is it everybody knew what ube was? I wasn't sure of it was made by a person named Ube or was an acronym for some exotic chocolate-growing region. But it's just that I missed out on the Philippine yam craze
