that looks straight up busted, but these ghost images are probably result of the interplay between the camera and how the screen updates. or are you seeing the same with your own eyes? wonder if it would have looked the same on a screenshot.

i.e. you _have_ to resort to TAA/ml-based upscaling/temporal upscaling to get a smooth experience but then the price is blurriness and increased latency.

Increasing display resolution + elevated expectations for visuals + demand for faster production turnaround (rules out baking) is what does this imo. Painted into a corner where only temporal techniques can help.

the straw that broke the camels back was the assbackwards way bc5 encoding api is done in compressonator - having to provide two separate regions for each channel meaning you need to deinterleave channels from your input image.

update: moved to nvidia texture tools. once you get past the account barrier, it actually has an ergonomic api and docs that people somewhat care about.
