He acts as though the GOP has just been a normal party, following their political norms, instead of pedal to the metal authoritarianism

If the Democrats were a normal party that believed in democratic principles, they would have planned to go to the voters in the next elections and said: These Republican policies are terrible! You should vote for us!"

This headline presumes that the administration actually suspects these people of smuggling drugs, which there is no evidence for, and ignores that this would be illegal anyway.
