I'm at Ancient House Museum today and have worked with a fabulous Home Educators group discussing life in the Roman army.

Now waiting to engage with the after-school history club on the same topic.

It would seem that Roman soldiers were 'cool'! 😄

I'm looking forward to giving a 'spirited' performance at this family-friendly event at Markshall!

This weekend The ghosts of Markshall’s past rise once more…

Discover characters from centuries gone by, each sharing their tales of life at Markshall.
It was a joy to work with local Yr3/4 school groups at Lynn Museum today presenting archaeology and Viking warfare sessions.

The children were well prepared and enthusiastic.

This has been an exceptional day indeed! 🙂

It's Trafalgar Day!

To the immortal memory: up spirits!
Up and running at the Longshop Museum: lovely to work with the QF 12-pounder gun again...

They made 2,000 of these guns here in WW2!

I had a fun day working with a class of Yr2 children at Ancient House Museum today, discussing all things Victorian!

They seemed to particularly enjoy learning about army life, and the marching drill went down well...

I like this photo of Anthony Askew and me, taken at the multiperiod event in Haddenham by SunShy Photography last Saturday...

We had a cracking day being 1stC Roman soldiers at Haddenham today: always great to spend time with Ant and Andy!

Lots of interested visitors and we were very well looked after... 😀
I'll be at this charity event at Haddenham, near Ely, today with these fine fellows!
I had some unusual company at lunchtime today! 😄

Spent the day presenting Roman army life to local schoolchildren at the wonderful Ancient House Museum.

I've just spent a fine morning working with Kathy Hipperson and the staff at Lynn Museum discussing medieval life.

I discussed warfare and the Home Education group were great to work with!

My brother's on the right...

Twins: causing confusion wherever they go! 😄
Here are my last photos from Hedingham Castle, a classic motte and bailey structure finished in 1137, so 'properly' Norman!

The gardens are lovely too: well worth a visit...

I'm looking forward to attending this event, with 'Roman' friends, on Saturday!
I had a cracking morning working with a Sikh group from Birmingham; pictured here relaxing and having lunch in the office.

It's frightening to see the gleam in an elderly Sikh woman's eyes whenever I handed them a musket! 😄
Today I'm back at Ancient House Museum for an event focused on the life and history of the Maharajah Duleep Singh, the last ruler of the Punjab, and his connections with the Thetford/Elveden area.

I'm looking forward to working as a Royal Marine gunnery instructor with the 12 pounder Quick Firing Gun at this event (no bangs!) at the Longshop Museum, Leiston, on 19 October.

A lovely, family friendly event!

Hedingham Castle with Hands On The Past: the Team! 😀
So that's my two days finished working at Bletchley Park - wet this morning so I moved into the Billiard Room, inside the Mansion.

I met lots of happy visitors over the weekend and, as usual, learned a lot too.

I'm looking forward to returning next summer!

So... I went to a party last weekend... in 1965!

Crazy, man! 😄
I'm looking forward to working at Bletchley Park again this weekend as a RAF Warrant Officer, running drill sessions, Morse Code training and generally having a lot of fun with visitors at the 1940s event, 9.30-5.O0pm!

This morning's work at Lynn Museum had a nautical theme: the story of Captain George Vancouver.

Kathy Hipperson, Mark Taylor and myself worked with a fine group of Home Educators and my focus was life on board ship.

We all had a great day at Ancient House Museum last Sunday for their Maharajah Duleep Singh-themed event, with many visitors including a large group of Sikhs from a Gurdwara in Derby.

Working with friends is always a bonus: a demanding day's work but good fun!
