I saw a barred owl last night!

I can’t be 100% sure but it was a big bird, at night, that wasn’t shaped like a hawk, and I’ve heard a barred owl on that road multiple times

It flew right in front of my car and disappeared in a tree but I’m sure enough to feel super lucky!

I have successfully conceived, carried out, and printed a modification of someone else’s 3D model, a soft tape measure spool!

It was way harder than I expected, mostly because I struggle to think in 3D, but I’m so happy with the result!

I’ve discovered that the brand-specific fork of Cura I (sometimes) use can sort of communicate with my printer (it didn’t at first), but it’s unpredictable, unstable, and if the connection status changes while I’m printing from an SD card it will immediately stop the print…

Not only did I find a Speed Champions scale two-post lift to 3D print, but I successfully managed to edit the model to fit in my tiny printer!

This is my absolute favorite print I’ve done so far!

It’s just a worry/fidget object I found online but I sanded it smooth and it feels SO GOOD!!

So I’ve figured out how to use three different slicer programs (technically two), two of them directly talk to my printer, but only one is officially compatible and it’s the one that doesn’t connect, naturally…

I picked up a small, cheap 3D printer about a week ago on Craigslist (NIB, no less!) and it’s given me both the Instant Dopamine of a new toy, as well as Extended-Release Dopamine by way of ALL the variables to FAFO with!

A small, white, 3D printed maneki-neko, aka Lucky Cat, aka Calling Cat, the kind that are often depicted holding a large coin and beckoning with a raised paw, but this one is a static model.
Its file was included with the printer and was my first print.
