I’ve not read the book so can’t say if it’s a good adaptation or not but The Woman in Cabin 10 was a really entertaining mystery thriller film!

Happy Book Birthday to @spookypurcell.bsky.social - House of Splinters is out from Bloomsbury books

This is my current read & Purcell has recaptured the unsettling atmosphere within The Bridge Manor, the eeriness of the silent companion figures & mess with our perception of reality! Loving it!

🤣 I’m sure it’ll please me too!

That’s why I said you have to switch your brain off 😅

I mean even if he survived the fall because of the trees, he’d have had significant blood loss from the shots. But later on he’s chasing after an airplane 😆
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
That wasn’t the issue for me. (Spoilers ahead!)

The issue was surviving that fall! Using sunglasses to reflect some pretty strong reflection from the bottom of the bloody jungle! There were so many unbelievable moments 😅

I just finished watching Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue and the first 5 episodes were great! A Lost-esque story that’s really gripping.

But that last episode… you really need to switch your brain off to make it make sense! 😅

Happy Spooky Season!

I received an upcoming anthology-Monstrous Tales-which will be released from Bloomsbury

Already dived into Eynhallow Free by Sunyi Dean - atmospheric, unsettling & poignantly written.

September reading Wrap Up

I had four fab reads. My favourite of the month was The Tower of the Tyrant by @jeremyteg.bsky.social

I’m currently reading The Everlasting by @alixeharrow.bsky.social which has so much emotion and time-travel twists. Really enjoying it.

Then I’ll be on to my spooky TBR!
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
I loved it, Jeremy! Look forward to your future standalones too.
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
Ah fab! I hope you enjoy!
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
It’s very good! I was so impressed with the depth of the story

On this post I’m recommending Grimoire Grammar School by @caitlinrozakis.bsky.social and The Enchanted Greenhouse by @sarahbethdurst.bsky.social

Thank you to @angryrobotbooks.bsky.social & @caramalines.bsky.social for Our Gifted Hearts by @jenniferkennedy.bsky.social

I’m excited to read these!
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
Let me know what you think after you’ve watched it.😊
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
You may feel differently to me? I hope you do because I was so disappointed.
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
The characters are so much better in the books! This adaptation felt like it was made up of all parties never having read the books. I guess the retirement home is a bit for the wealthy, but it’s actually a really cosy and welcoming environment in the books, a place of friendship and love.
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
If I had not read the books, I think this would’ve been a great film. But I have read and loved them, so this adaptation was a letdown. The British sense of humour from the books was lost, the character nuances were lost, & there were some fundamental changes to the ending. In short, I hated it.😅
nilsreviewsit.bsky.social
I hope you’ll enjoy it!
