"Belt Action" is the Japanese term I'm more familiar with. Like on this Japanese version of Capcom Beat 'em Up collection I got (this never got a physical release in the west, so I picked this one up instead)

The other depicting a large creature (possibly a deity?) has a much more tense atmosphere. Like encountering a large animal when hiking, and you freeze in place, meeting their eyes. The angular, diamond shaped eye is very striking. And the floating shadow heightens the mystery of this encounter

Masterful display of atmosphere and scale here. There's a whole swirl of emotions from the first scene. Matilda's(?) stance, dripping blood implies an offer is being given, while their friend kneels in the back. The atmosphere is powerful and carries a sense of exhaustion and somberness.
