I'm new to using 3D Printing in a new way - DECORATIVE PRINTS!

Just finished this scale model of the James Webb Space Telescope!!!

This looks awesome. But, I really like the matte finish the protective film leaves, think I'll leave it instead of going full reflection.

We've been planning this new machine for over a year now. But now we have to change its design parameters specifically because we are becoming victims of a trade war.

I will not let Positron die. It gave my life purpose and passion.

I will not let it be taken away.

But with these tariffs, the momentum that I spent the past four to five years of my life building, almost has essentially been kneecapped.

I am fuming for my community.

And I am going to put all of this rage into a creative endeavor to make an even better machine.

And without subsidies, there is no way that a small production run machine like Positron can be made reasonably here in United States.

We were nominated for Best FDM desktop printer in 2024, and this was only possible due to our collaboration with LDO.

The kit was already on the expensive side, and was already a hard pill to swallow.

But for those that were enthusiasts of the idea, it was still within reason.

I cannot in good conscious at this point recommend that anyone spend over $1,000 on a Positron.

Tariffs are now 104% on imports from China.

Now, I do not have a financial horse in this race. I do not personally import from China or anything of a sort.

But my community does. The Positron community that I worked so hard to build over the past 4 to 5 years, what now?

Agreed.

The only time I use Multi-Color or Multi-Material;

1. Printed Labels (because I don't have a label maker)
2. Don't want to paint the model after
3. Actually want to embedded TPU into a model
4. Other multi material stuff

Then again, I have a 5 Toolhead XL, so waste isn't a thing for me.

I just successfully made a hydra fight itself with yo mama jokes, and then telling the heads that it was the other heads that said it with a 29 on deception.

It rolled a 28 on insight. I win.

Chinese 3D printers are dominating the market because the Chinese government is heavily subsidizing 3D printers, That's how machines like the Centauri Carbon can exist for $200.

The current strategy is just asinine.

Positron is made with LDO out of Shenzhen because they are the only ones capable of producing the printers. If we did that here the United States, the cost of the kit would be triple if not quadruple.

Because there is no subsidies to bring 3D printing manufacturing here to the States.

Tariffs alone will never work. If you want to bring manufacturing back to United States, subsidize.

Rather than just raise costs on everybody, subsidizing the industry you want to return to United States is how you are going to encourage American manufacturing.

I'm down to 195lb, I can't wait to see what I look like when I finally drop all the weight.

I grew out my beard years ago to just make it look better, which pigeon holed me into the look I have today.

But thanks to my whateverism awakening, I know the mirror will reflect me one day.

Admittedly, my new job at PrintedSolid has significantly reduced stress in my work life, so I'm not stress eating anymore.
