Elevated fire weather concerns continue through sunset, with widespread wind gusts of 30-35 mph and isolated gusts up to 40 mph across southern Wisconsin, and relative humidity values falling into the low 20 percent range. Avoid burning outdoors! #swiwx #wiwx

Wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph are shown through 4 pm, and of 25 to 30 mph are shown between 4 and 5 pm, with winds dropping off to the high teens and low 20s thereafter. Relative humidity in the low 20s in southwest Wisconsin (Dodgeville, Monroe, Janesville, Madison) is seen through 4 pm, and in the upper 20s across the rest of southern Wisconsin. relative humidity will increase through the evening, with values in the 40s to 50s after 7 pm. The timeframe of most concern for fire spread is between 3 and 5 pm. Dry and breezy conditions through this afternoon will lead to elevated fire weather conditions, with the driest and windiest conditions expected through 5 pm. Use caution if grilling or using equipment that cause sparks, and avoid burning if possible.

A Freeze Warning remains in effect for all of southern Wisconsin until 9 AM CDT this morning. Temperatures will drop into the middle 20s to lower 30s for most of the area, except right along the Lake Michigan shore. This can kill sensitive vegetation. #swiwx #wiwx

Light winds, clear skies and dropping temperatures again tonight. A widespread freeze is expected with temperatures falling into the upper 20s to low 30s inland. Lake shore areas will be a bit warmer in the low to mid 30s. #wiwx

Weakening winds and clearing skies will lead to chilly temperatures tonight. Frost is expected in areas to the along & west of a Wisconsin Dells - Madison - Janesville line after midnight, where a Frost Advisory is in effect between 2-9 AM. Bring cold-sensitive plants inside.

Widespread showers and perhaps a brief thunderstorm or two are expected from late this morning into the evening hours, along with cooler temperatures and gusty west winds. Along with the rain, small hail will be possible with some of the strongest cells.
