#StationNews: From 24 December 2025, Melling Station & its park & ride facilities will close for 3 years, & the Melling line will begin & end at Western Hutt Station.

The station is closed for the construction of the Melling Transport Improvements.

16-23 October, night works to prepare for Labour weekend piling works, 11 carparks will be closed at the northern end of the Park'nRide for construction vehicles & material deliveries.

Greater Wellington will see Motu Move introduced in early 2027 and Auckland in late 2027, with Motu Move being available in all regions by the end of 2027.

Each region will confirm its specific transition plan and own timing to ensure a smooth transition.

#TicketingNews: NZTA have confirmed the updated rollout schedule for Motu Move in Christchurch and the rest of the country.

Prepaid Motu Move cards are to be introduced in mid-2026.

Rollout to smaller regions is due between 2026 and 2027.

#FerryNews: Island Direct’s new ferry Te Wai Ora is currently moored near the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland.

Te Wai Ora has been operating since 2022 under the name Kalibobo Express in Papua New Guinea.

#BusNews: The EV chargers for Tranzurban’s West Auckland Depot in the Spedding Road Industrial area have been tested ahead of stage one of the depot opening for service.

More chargers are due to come online shortly, this allows Tranzurban to relocate to their permanent depot.

The clip shows progress on the SH22 roundabout connection, work on the station access overbridge and the park and ride + bus stops and train station.

#FerryNews: KiwiRail has agreed to sell the ferry Aratere to a buyer who will deliver it to a specialist recycling shipyard in India.

KR has repurposed appliances, furniture, and other items from Aratere across its fleet and operations, with remaining items donated.

#TrainNews: Motor Vessel Wairua has shared a video of the 1876 Steam Locomotive “Skunk” being recovered from South Beach after being lost in the sand for over a century.

The locomotive is now with Steam Rail Wanganui, who have plans for its future.

#StationNews: Te Awa Kairangi have started building a temporary park and ride at Petone Station to mitigate the impacts of the Melling station closure.

The car park will have over 100 spaces and will be available from December until 2031.

#TransportNews: Auckland Transport have installed a solar powered wireless charger into the seats of stop 7034 on Fanshawe Street.

The charger appears to replace the ‘middle bench seat’ at this stop.

#FerryNews: Bluebridge’s Strait Feronia has been renamed Pan Lily and has left New Zealand waters bound for Egypt.

Livia has replaced Strait Feronia.

#FerryNews: Thames-Coromandel District Council contractors are replacing the gangway surface, including the ramp and top landing at Ferry Landing in Whitianga.

The ramp will get new aluminium sheets and marine carpet.

Works occur 14-16 October between 9:30 AM and 3 PM each day.

Humm Breakfast will broadcast live from the Diwali bus on 9 October and AT will be on board to hand out Diwali bus models and Indian sweets to customers as they tag off.
