You can read my #webnovel now at neko-neko-nana.com! I'm publishing it serially and every chapter has 1-2 illustrations. The website also has special pages for the magic system and character profiles that are also being updated regularly.

A traditional media illustration of Haruko, Sasha, and Akiko, three characters from the novel, rendered in marker and ink. The visual style and composition mimics that of stained glass church windows. Pink-haired Sasha gazes up at tall, goddess-like Haruko with a slightly concerned look on her face while Akiko, dressed in a green Lolita dress, looks away from both of them with a sarcastic smile. (All images on neko-neko-nana.com have comprehensive human-written alt text.) Picture of text:
In Nana Matsumoto's world, young women have amazing powers. There are girls who fly, girls with mind powers, and girls with abilities unique to their personalities. There are even Magical Girls, who are rare individuals that have all three. But there are also Duds, who are girls with little or no powers at all. Eighteen-year-old Nana is a Dud with no purpose in life who barely passed high school, and she's struggling to get into college. Out of desperation, she lies
about being a Magical Girl in order to get
into her dream school. Now she has to keep up the lie and convince everyone that she has powers to avoid being sent back home and possibly going to prison. Nana genuinely wants to help others and resolves to do the best she can with what she's been given, even if it means everyone else sees her as The Worst Magical Girl Ever.

Thanks for the promo opportunity! This is Nana Matsumoto- she's the protagonist of my web novel. In the beginning she's deeply in the closet, but she comes to terms with her bisexuality over the course of the story. And then here's Katsuhiro, the transmasc protagonist of her favorite anime.

Rooting is coming along nicely. I'm using much smaller plugs this time.

I'm an architecture enthusiast so I actually really enjoy drawing and painting building interiors/exteriors. In comics, you can kinda cheat by drawing one "establishing shot" to convey where the characters are, then in the next panels you can make the background kinda loose and gestural.
oceanblueart.bsky.social
If you struggle with backgrounds/environments because you feel overwhelmed by the amount of detail you have to draw, especially in outdoor scenes, I found this video really helpful

Aw man I missed it by 20 minutes! Well, here's my Blaze the Cat and my Catty Noir illustrations anyway

Another serendipitous consequence of starting over was getting my hands on a really cool Drac at a steep discount. I got a Garden Mysteries doll because it was on sale at Walmart and I needed a new head. I got an absolutely stunning screening though and I opted to sacrifice my Wave 1 doll instead.

Well, I screwed up real bad. To make a long story short, the original head that I rooted had to be completely scrapped and I had to start over. That's fine though, I ended up getting a brighter shade of pink that I like much more.

A three panel comic, rendered in marker and ink. In the first panel, Lex Luthor is saying "I've already killed you, Superman." In the second panel, he's saying "...is what I WOULD say if he were here right now. Thank you for your time, Mr. Kent." In the third panel, Clark Kent looks up from a notepad with an anxious expression.

Congratulations! 🥳💜💜💜 1K is a milestone! And thank you for the share, it’s my main engagement tool, I really appreciate it! 💜💜💜
I’m Laura, marker & pen artist, doing a sketch a day for 2025. I l draw whatever hits my brain parts, except for today, I did a DTIYS by @viperiumprime.com! 😊💜
A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a hare made of cowslips. The hare is seated upright, ears turned back as if they are listening.
The hare tail is a cluster of yellow cowslip flowers, and the green leaves and yellow flowers alternate in rows across the body and head. The ears are large green cowslip leaves, with yellow flowers at the base.
The hare eye is a cowslip flower for the iris and pupil, and leaves for the sclera. The whiskers and lines on the flowers are gold opaque ink. A marker, ink, and paint pen cartoon of my OCs, The Watchers (small faceless creatures in robes, with gold hands and wings, though right now, one of them has red dragon wings), and Death, holding their traditional scythe.
Death is facing right, looking at The Watcher with red dragon wings, who is pointing at the other Watcher, who is reaching for Death’s scythe.
Title is top left in the image, outlined in gold ink:
“DEATH TAKES A WRONG TURN…”.
The red-winged Watcher is saying to Death: “Yeah, turn left at the Crab Nebula, and you’re there. Um… you might want to keep an eye on your scythe…”.
The gold-winged Watcher (who aaaaaallllmost has their hands on the scythe) is saying “Spoilsport.”.
Death is almost twice as tall as The Watchers, and is wearing a dark grey robe. Their skeletal face, neck vertebrae, and skeletal hands are visible.
The sky is dark blue and filled with stars and galaxies. The ground is grey-green and flat.
Even Death is not safe from The Watchers’ shenanigans! Naughty little things! A marker, ink, and paint pen cartoon of a yellow goblin creature grinning, and gripping a snail that is the same size as the goblin, the snail curled back, looking angrily at the goblin.
Hand written text top right: “Things I see when I’m weeding…”
Underneath the text, a hand drawn speech bubble from the goblin says, “Oh, hi! Gardening, yeah? Cool… Hey, is it okay if I eat this? Awesome.”.
…I get some weird thoughts when I’m ripping out weeds. A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of @viperiumprime.com’s amazing Do This In Your Style (DTIYS) challenge (the original is so much better, and is digital). A purple and pink tiger/horse/dinosaur monster, with black mane and lion tail, charging towards the viewer at an angle, leaning to the right, feet on the left. The background fades from yellow-green to orange-yellow, with shadow in orange.
The creature has their tongue out, and they might be smiling, but it’s hard to tell, because of the big pointy white teeth (the original is more streamlined, and has a more cartoonish mouth and teeth in the same colour).
The mane is wild and curly, and has lines of blue over the black. Bottom right, decorative lettering says “OC by VP, DTIYS, #Viper5KDTIYS, L/Laura Mellin Atelier”. Not signed in the normal way, because not my creation.

The first time I drew my OC vs. the most recent time I drew my OC

#oceanblueart #oc #NekoNekoNana
The first time I ever drew Nana Matsumoto. It is an inkless pencil line drawing. I was saving up for a BJD from a maker called Xagadoll and this was going to be my design- I intended to do the faceup, wig, and outfit myself. I made up a backstory for this character design and that's partially where Neko Neko Nana came from. My most recent illustration of Nana Matsumoto, rendered in ink and marker. It's part of a holiday illustration series.

Went ahead and finished the shirt. With all the hand-stitched details and gathering it took about six hours to make total. Now I just need to rinse out the marking ink.
The shirt bodice with sleeves attached and unsewn edges The finished shirt modeled on the doll body with black lace and glass beads for buttons down the front.
oceanblueart.bsky.social
Now I'm finally attaching the sleeves. I'm using a LOT of pins, right side together, and sewing with the bodice piece down and with a thin piece of paper underneath so the piece doesn't get chewed up.
The bodice piece with pins at the part where the sleeve attaches The sleeve attached to the bodice piece with pins Both bodice pieces and both sleeves are now stitched on
oceanblueart.bsky.social
Oops! I forgot to attach the lace trim I made, it should be put on the sleeves at this point.
The sleeve pieces with tiny black lace at the bottom
oceanblueart.bsky.social
Here's what I do: I first clip the curved edges of the bodice where the sleeves will be attached close to the guideline, but not *too* close. This allows me to straighten out the curve and attach the sleeve easier. It will also make the finished garment lay better.
One half of the bodice piece with scissors showing that the curve has been clipped. The curve that is now straightened out thanks to the notches.
