Finally made the jump from the Bog of Eternal Stench. Purveyor of bad jokes, lover of movies and books, frequently too tired to care about my own spelling.

Just wait until the Florida Book Burning Association of 'Concerned' Parents get hold of some of those ancient Greek texts. They'll be added to the banned list faster than they can spell 'R-A-I-N-B-O-W'.

Makes me feel less guilty for getting my parents to pay £150 (saved up over a 4 month period) to pay for a week in Boulogne-sur-Mer, featuring 1-star seafront B&B lodging on bunk beds full of sand, food poisoning for anyone who ate the chicken and a visit to a bowling alley and a large aquarium.

Michael 'Headed a government unit whose sole aim it was to reject all FOI requests that might result in negative headlines' Gove?

That's Michael 'Do all my official government business via an insecure private Gmail account so that the public can never see any of it' Gove talking about government transparency, is it?

Meanwhile, in the Daily Telegraph...

"The EU are banning us from visiting our 2nd homes whenever we want! How *dare* they impose border controls on us!"

When you wish upon a star...

...your party will still come in 5th place in terms of actual vote share and never be in a position to ever do any of the things you want people to hope for.

Mirrors a conversation I had today where I was told "the EU is banning UK second-home owners!" (they have one in Spain). I tracked this to a Telegraph headline they'd read, which was itself a hysterical misrepresentation of their own article (which they hadn't bothered to) about the 90/180 day rule.

Well Biden and Obama are both still protected by that same Supreme Court ruling that allowed a weak and petty man with 37 convictions, two impeachments and an insurrection to run for President to escape his prison sentence and you haven't figured out how to get around that yet.

That's a surefire sign that it's an ex-private taxi. That's the only time I've ever heard anyone listen to it.

It's also a good sign on entering one of those taxis to steer any conversation away from anything that might be considered politics, unless you desperately want to listen to ranting...

I love Tron. It's a childhood favourite that I'll rewatch all these years later. I never wanted a sequel. That wasn't made for me, that was for some studio bereft of ideas and hoping to quick nostalgia cash grab. And now they're back and hoping to do so again from those who saw Legacy as a child.

This seems to happen a lot too. Always found it depressing how readily people on the left of politics are willing to use the terms that those hostile to them come up with to disparage them. Come on ffs! You're not taking back control by adopting them as your own, you're accepting their narrative.

Not satisfied with destroying US soybean farming, Trump's now going to ruin Boeing by blocking their pending deal with China to sell them 500 airplanes while simultaneously handing the EU and Airbus a huge boost. So much winning America!

Airbus shares going to go through the roof at the news.

And why is that space jockey about 4 times as big as the ones in Prometheus? And just much more... cooler?

He's also projecting how the Republicans have actually acted in government as a negative *if* it were done by another party. Literally zero self-awareness.
oddballwoofwoof.bsky.social
I had that on a record as a child. I think it was the b-side to the Spies Like Us single.

Republicans win with 99.4% of the vote. Surprise!

It wasn't until last year that I realised there was a not very good sequel starring Scott Glenn about a plot to break Rudolf Hess (played by Laurence Olivier) out of Spandau Prison.

Damn, I've got the song running through my head now.
