No Kings protestors had to thread a needle - a desperate need to protest while knowing the administration would exploit the first whiff of anger or perceived violence. Anything other than "performative activism" would've been seen by our fascistic admin as an excuse to scream, "insurrection."
I wonder, after today's NO KINGS protest, if you could write about how many on the right think the idea of Trump being king is a great idea, and maybe how right-wing pundits seek to delegitimize the passion of the protests because of how many older Americans participated. The left isn't the problem.
She doesn't decide these things. She make think spontaneity is req'd, but honestly, who cares what she thinks? The reason people choose to gather determines whether they are protesting. Saturday, people are coming together to show solidarity in OPPOSING the abuses & corruption of the Trump admin.
The only saving grace of my mother's death in 2023 is that she isn't here to express her opinion about the current political climate. She loathed Trump & in the lucid moments as dementia took over, she could get damn salty. I can't imagine how bad it would have gotten.
Did she say anything about skipping trials? Or that all Republicans deserve it? I mean, she had particular people/crimes in mind, correct? The president of the US is basically trying to sell the lie that anyone who protests on Saturday is a terrorist & he's ordering murders on int'l waters & more..
Does today's right-wing want to drop the age of consent, the age to be prosecuted as an adult, and minimum age to get married, but 18-40 y.o.s are "a bunch of kids?"
How better to show his power than to deliver summary justice in our name when we are powerless to stop him and the Congressional majority refuses to act?
We've always known he doesn't care about human life. He doesn't even talk a good game.
Ezra (w/Ben Shapiro, of all people) also dragged up Obama talking about Trayvon Martin & failed to slap down Shapiro's claim that because Obama saw his younger self in Trayvon, (& also sympathized w/H.L. Gates), America couldn't put race problems behind us and THAT "radicalized" the right. GAH!
How much money has been spent, laws have been broken, trust in government (further) eroded & lives have been upended because Trump told the GOP to scuttle the bipartisan immigration bill?
