That being said…does “fun” alone have a cultural impact? I think not. If we’re going by that metric, the B-52’s would have been granted the honor years ago. I love KISS but they don’t deserve this honor. Enjoy the music, but I can’t find a “cultural impact” argument persuasive. 3/3

I love KISS; been a fan since I first heard “Dressed To Kill”. They possessed limited musical abilities (exception: Ace), rudimentary writing skill, and we won’t even discuss their lyrical acumen. However, they were fun. I never dismiss music based on a “fun” quotient. 2/3

I’ve always considered the Kennedy Center Honors a celebration of cultural impact on America. While I disagree from a musical perspective on a minority of choices (Paul Simon, Carlos Santana), I cannot justify an argument against their cultural contributions 1/3

Sad to see the end of PBS. I discovered so much from them, Masterpiece Theatre, Prime Suspect, Fawlty Towers, Butterflies, The McLaughlin Group, Monty Python and, of course, (if you watched the Buffalo station) endless “Mike & Goldie” jokes based on their enthusiastic earnestness.
