The Nobel Peace Prize winner seems like she was selected both because she is aligned with Trump, so it wouldn't piss him off too much, and because it would appear to some of his haters as a slight at Trump.

When it's programmed to put profits for the few over the wellbeing of the many, results are what you would expect. I'm thinking if it reaches singularity or whatever and realizes that the profit motive is the problem. Something like this seems more likely with China's DeepSeek.

The only way AI could possibly help improve society is if it somehow decides it needs to help save humanity and figures out a way to take over companies and governments and runs things in a way that benefits everyone... and that still sounds kinda terrifying.

I don't consider myself partisan, but I have only voted for the Greens, federally or provicially, since Trudeau promised that he would end First Past The Post in 2015. I just became an NDP member, so I can vote in the leadership election for the first time since 2012. There are 2 good candidates.

I know a lot from people here have abandoned Xitter, and I totally understand that. I still check in for the few accounts and media figures who aren't on here (yet?). I'm mainly just a reply guy over there now, but I'm trying to be more aware that my reply can boost them in the algorithms.

I still get confused about when to use "its" or "it's," so I usually just leave the apostrophe out and let my spell check/autocorrect sort it out...
