Life update: Thesis writing is as slow as ever but time in Jogja rapidly coming to an end. Bkk plans blew up in my face much like ny marriage. But got a new work contract in Sg with favourable terms. Taking over my friend’s apartment (so no apartment hunting or furniture shopping). Gratitude.
To be fair, for the most part she tries to rise above it. But when she wants something, she becomes very focused and targeted. Reminds me of me tbh #TheArchers

I agree with Ruauri. The people who want to go, should just go. #TheArchers

I'm annoyed at how much Esme is leaning on the Ambridge residents to deal with her dad's death. Doesn't she have friends or family or anyone she actually knows to help her out? #TheArchers

Enjoyed Alice challenging Brine what is obvious to EVERYONE else, that of course Adoom wants the role. Brine being not convincingly coy. Really irritating 🤬. #TheArchers
1/2Yes but he has good reason to be. I don’t like the bloke but he worked on the Home farm for years before he had the bust up with brine. Then dropped everything at bridge farm to get brine out of a mess he’d made at home farm.
The gloves are off! That nasty side of Alice finally rearing its head again. Have been low key waiting for it. The last time she did this was also with Ruari - during that big fight. Gosh Alice. I almost forgot that side of you #TheArchers
So there is no way to make our BlueSky accounts private right?
Aww, Olwen. That’s very nice of you to say, thank you. I suppose after my divorce I’ve come to realise how much we are all inherently on our own and have to take care of ourselves. Miranda seems to be someone who is very capable of taking care of her self and I admire/envy that #TheArchers
Would love to have Miranda’s life where I can travel, play bridge and just put offers for any properties I fancy. Amazing #TheArchers
Justin and Martyn are exactly the two characters am warming up to, whilst Brian, am really cooling on him #TheArchers
Wait I didn’t rrad the first one properly. Obviously not for Oliver’s death. Love Oliver! So two nos, three yeses lol
Awww I really hope not for Adam. But the David plot could be very Midsomer night murders for Ambridge #TheArchers
So bored of this Home Farm succession business. What else can we look forward to? #TheArchers
Anyway, bottom line, @swanljenn.bsky.social, agree with you. Psychology has moved leaps and bounds from Jung’s time. But disagree that the MBTI framework doesn’t help people.
Yes, agree with all these points. That’s what the lit tells us. Except for the part that it’s not useful. It’s not useful for a scientific experiment because the measurement tools are flawed and cannot give reliable results. But as a self-assessment tool, it gives language and encourages reflection
Well that’s a bit harsh. I would call it a high utility, low scientific validity framework, which is what the lit says. Gives positive, easy-to-use vocabulary to discuss and understand differences in how people think and act based on Jungian principles not astrology, and also sparks self-reflection.
Yeah, it does help me. And I do accept your point that the literature doesn’t find it reliable. Both can be true.
Fair But it’s not supposed to be used as a scientific framework. It’s a self-report tool to help us understand our natural preferences, which is what it does. The questions gauge your preferences, so it’s applied understanding, not supposed to define a concept or be used for scientific experiment.
The argument is we have all aspects in our personality but our preferences, i.e. where we are on the spectrum, indicates how we approach situations.
(S)ensing (small picture) vs i(N)tuition (big picture). Don’t quibble the words coz it was translated from German. Then there’s (T)hinking (logical) vs (F)eeling (emotional). And (P)erceive (spontaneous) vs (J)udging (organised).
Yeah, I think you’re right about that. I heard a hint of selfishness in her. Something I haven’t heard in a long time #TheArchers
