Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair, the Merwin translation was a miracle of a book. Akin to Sonnets to Orpheus in Mitchel translation. I’ve always felt they were related in their completeness….

I think I have nearly all his work now. He has a very unique pattern of thinking in the poems. They unfold in constantly surprising ways without resorting to tricks of figuration.
