I never actually met Rob, but I've read his pieces and I hugely appreciate what he was doing for the indie TTRPG scene. It's really sad to hear about his passing.

He gave so much of himself to others and never stopped advocating for creativity and kindness.

My heart is with his wife and daughter, his family and friends.

It's 2025 and I still ask students to read a 21 year old piece called "New Games Journalism" by @kierongillen.bsky.social because it's a really good place (combined with some other stuff) to start talking about objectivity and subjectivity in video games critique.

My 6yo daughter's adventures, part 2. Yesterday she recorded a "vlog" (just for herself) about art. She said, presenting her painting "Look, here's my art. Made by my hand, not by a machine. If you're not amazed by it, that's ok. Not all art has to amaze everyone." This is the art in question.
