What's new is the internet and social media, which are used to endlessly peddle disinformation and lies on account of the algorithms that create the most attention and outrage in order to make a max out profit for the platforms. The problem is:

There is NO regulation!

There should be something done about Microsoft stopping any updates on Windows, which makes the hardware useless. Or smartphones and laptops produced without the possibility to exchange the battery.

This is all factored into the profit margins of those companies:

You are too spoiled with an economy that is working reasonably well to realise what it would mean if it didn't!

The economy is providing good living standards, democracy and freedom. Just look back at the timeline of history and realise that this is not a matter of course!
