It was an honour today to take part in the Remembrance Sunday parade to St John’s Church and the wreath-laying at Sidcup War Memorial on behalf of Lamorbey and Sidcup Local History Society.

The sacrifices made must not be forgotten.
Fantastic! I was playing Guess Who just last week with my niece!
I loved spending time with the members of this group. I learnt a lot from them, not least that Fela Kuti is a musician I really should have known about earlier!
Earlier this week Archives Officer Penny Duggan attended the 'Capturing Black History in Bexley' event at Titmuss Avenue Baptist Church. Seniors in Touch group members shared experiences of living in #Thamesmead and how it has changed over the years. #BlackHistoryMonth #oralhistory

A Very Victorian Day Out at Crossness Pumping Station celebrating 160 years of sewage disposal. A fabulous combination of engineering, music, history, ice-cream and beer.
A day in #Londonium - a fantastic mudlarking exhibition at the Roman amphitheatre underneath London’s Guildhall, with so many incredible stories unearthed from the tiniest objects that have been found beside the Thames. Part of Totally Thames Festival 2025

It was a pleasure to work with the team at the Holiday Inn Bexley on the history display for their open day. The Black Prince - a well-known landmark on the A2 junction - holds many memories: jazz music, weddings and people who have worked there over the years.

It's Friday night and where else would you go in 1962 but the Crayford Town Hall with its amazing glitter ball? On Friday 18 May it was Rock 'n' Twist night, and if that wasn't enough, on Saturday 19 May there was non-stop dancing until 11.30pm!

We have recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of the opening of #DansonPark but it wasn't until June 1952 that Hall Place Gardens opened to the public, when the Duchess of Kent was received by local dignitaries and large crowds. #CelebratingBexley
