HK is one of my favorite games ever, and it was my first metroidvania, so you may be onto something?
That being said, I tried getting into other MVs after and they just didn't click with me like Hollow Knight did. I don't know if that's HK's fault or if HK is just the only one that appeals to me.

First time I played it, I got to some random biome, died, lost all my money, then quit for 2 years.
Eventually, I was bored and decided to power through the early game again.
I then disappeared for weeks and came back with 112% completion and insane hype for Silksong.
