Boy this was an incredibly tough model overall, but he's now complete and very menacing looking! From Monster Hunter World, here's Radobaan painted:

Great job Aaron! Haven't done this one yet - I love the definition you got on his skin/scales. Very fun looking~

Great work all around on these! The color choices are absolutely on-point for what they'd look like in-game.

Gradually refining how intense I want the highlights & black-lining/shadows to be on simpler human models. From Death May Die, here's Buck Hall painted!

Picture of a hand-painted model of the Cthulhu: Death May Die investigator Buck Hall. A sheriff-star-emblazoned fella with two pistols and a belt with ammo/holsters on it. Painted with a fake shadow beneath him.

Man, yellow is tough and you made it look so nice and unassuming here. Well done John!

explosion looks awesome, well done!

I was pretty eager to tackle this one due to the fun color scheme and liking the character, 'happy with the result! From Marvel United, here's U.S. Agent painted~

Picture of a hand-painted model of the marvel antihero U.S. Agent. He's vaulting through a battlefield with a tire and bags. I paint with fake shadows so it looks like one side of him is in shadows and he's casting them over the ground/tire.

Wow that side shot really helps contextualize the full design. That thing is crazy and you did a great job with 'im. Well done!

Looking great Bren! For wood I often find that oranges make for good wood grain/highlight contrasts to the brown. Darker orange for a subtle contrast, orange-yellow for a stronger one. Good luck~

Good luck with the TMM, it's looking great so far!

Absolutely gorgeous! Great shot Tommy =)

Frankly I think this guy is a menace!

Very creative and well-executed, nicely done Kaz =)

Could easily be complete already, looks great! =)

This one's going to take a while and will certainly be a bit tedious, but I'm hoping it will be awesome once finished!

Working on a bigger project now so time for a flashback post! I remember working -so- hard on this lovely lady at the time, and I still love how she looks on the shelf. From She-Ra, here's Flutterina painted!

Beard stubble looks fantastic, great job on that!

You got it! Part of the advantage here is some areas I can leave almost untouched from their base coat + shading (Panel 3 is almost exclusively blacklining/shadows).

Then I want the eyes drawn to the arm/suit/lapel, so I focus two intense layers of blue on that area specifically, and I'm good!

Continually refining my process for flashy highlights; here's complete & in-process for a character based on Bill Nighy. From Death May Die, here's Craig painted!

Picture of hand painted models of the Cthulhu: Death May Die investigator Craig Adamson, based on Bill Nighy. He's holding a tablecloth/towel and pointing a shotgun at his foes. Four-part collage of my process painting Craig. Details of each step are discussed more in the blog entry link if you're curious!

Right? It's nuts sometimes, you look at the 2D art, try to apply the colors and it just doesn't look right.

Iron Patriot's tricky since I did it in metallics and black-lined before that, but his pose is simpler than Cap's here at least!
pesren.bsky.social
Super cool! And once again your basing is awesome~

Looking great! I understand not wanting to rely on contrast/Speedpaints (I don't want someone to see my mini and say "that's 'Slaughter Red!'"), but you can get a lot of color depth by starting with them and doing acrylics over them, or using the contrast line to tint an existing base coat too.
pesren.bsky.social
Love it - those mid-transition trees are truly a thing of beauty!
pesren.bsky.social
Thank you so much! =) For me it's android so Google Photos has a (pretty bad) collage feature that worked well enough only because these were four similar-size photos. Whenever I've done more complex collages, I have to use a third party app, sadly!

For sure! one of my buddies was really surprised that I'd started Morbius with a purple coat. At least occasionally I'll do more of those in-process pictures in case it helps folks see how I go about the process.

Oh right all the spikes on the back of it. Makes sense... but yeah, good presence on that mini. Good luck!
