I mean, I grew up in North Carolina and I never even waved a Confederate flag, let alone got one tattooed on my chest.

Just because he's acting like he's never leaving is no reason for you to act like he's never leaving.
I mean, I teach about symbolism for a living and all, but this is just too much.

I saw someone talking about their list of 50 favorite comics artists and I thought, "Man, that's too many. How many could I even come up with?"

The list currently stands at 71.
I mean, I'm a white, cis, married father, so "normie" is OK by me, but I'm also a left-leaning southerner with a master's degree, Ashkenazi ancestry, comics and SF/fantasy books galore, nine musical instruments, and an unhealthy fascination with avifauna, so hello, skinny ends of the bell curve.
I played catch-up this weekend, finally watching two movies I should have seen long ago: THE THING (1952) and TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME (1992). The former was, to my surprise, the better movie, though Lynch's was never remotely dull, and Sheryl Lee was terrific.

THE EXPANSE might work really well, though. And it's a great show.
Actually, the recent PEACEMAKER Season 2 has an alternate-dimension setup where the protagonist has to decide where to live. What provokes his final decision is a belated but clear understanding of what one of the dimensions is based on. Alas, it's probably too R-rated a show to work in class.

I feel like there almost has to be a Battlestar Galactica episode that would be helpful here, but I'm blanking on any particulars. There are some Firefly eps, like "Ariel" that put Mal in a sort of monarchical situation.

Yesterday's artwork: basically straightforward on the obverse, a bit silly on the reverse.
Today I observed No Kings Day by doing a little artwork, taking a stroll with a few like-minded friends, and finally reading the final chapters of a work I've been following for 41 years: Matt Wagner's MAGE.

Horrific antifa violence in Austin today. By far largest event since Women’s March.

No, this is how Nazis talk in their own spaces. I don’t know abut this dude, but I never talked about gassing people and raping women when I was hanging out with my pals.
