Capitalism & the State imposed themselves through conquest. They can't be voted out of power. This isn't abstract theory for me, I say this as someone who has dealt with housing precarity my whole adult life, someone with chronic and serious health problems, someone who deals with police violence...

In order to win power, Mamdani is giving up on the millionaires' tax, giving up on changing police leadership, opening a direct line to the "business leaders" of NYC, and announcing his support for (a more humane Zionism). And yet, progressives are still salivating. Thoughts?

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.
