The White-crowned Sparrows love the mucky water in the bottom of the planter too! Although the birds do spend more time at the clean water dishes only a couple of feet away.

The White-throated Sparrows love it in the area of the garden from my earlier video. I'll watch them for over an hour launching up to grab a seed from the Hyssop and they'll dislodge many more seeds. Then they'll spend a few minutes eating those seeds from the ground.

White-throated Sparrow
There are 3 water dishes that I fill with clean water each morning... but sometimes they prefer the planter. I read recently that the organic debris adds nutrients to the water... makes sense 👍
