1st winter Glaucous Gull flew into Funzi Loch, Fetlar for a brief wash & spruce up before flying off

Nice to see some flowering Oyster Plant on Fetlar. Thanks to @colonelbirder.bsky.social for the advice! A new one for me.

Sadly declining over much of their range in the UK @fairislebirdobs.bsky.social still has a good breeding population of these charismatic little finches. A rare bird in Cheshire I saw my 1st one winter in the 70s whilst a young birder at Alton Water, Suffolk

A few Brambling were turning up @fairislebirdobs.bsky.social whilst we were there last week. Feeding up before continuing their migration south! #ukbirding

Great to have stayed at @fairislebirdobs.bsky.social for a week after watching the rebuild over the last 5 years. A fabulous place & a great team. We’ve already booked again next year. Now to lose the weight United on despite walking 23k steps/ day. The food was terrific.

CBN ringed as a newly fledged young on Hilbre 12th June 2025. Seen again on Hilbre 16th June but not again until you photographed it.

I’m away from home at the moment but I’ll let you know ringing details when I get home next week

It looks like it’s CA but can’t get 3rd letter
philwoollen.bsky.social
Definitely one of our Hilbre colour ringed birds. Did you get the 3 letter code? Will start with C. Where was it?
philwoollen.bsky.social
Thanks Steve. Fair Isle generally been good for us over the years. Still hoping for the elusive Siberian Thrush though!

Thanks Dougie. Hope you’re well? Back on Fetlar from 11th so relying on you to find something to bring me to Yell. Sibe Thrush would do nicely 🤣
