The ISPRS 3D Underwater Workshop has just begun! After yesterday's hands-on tutorials and the ice-breaker event, we are now ready for the exciting presentations. The opening was conducted by organiser and colleague Gottfried Mandlburger, as well as by Rector Jens Schneider.

Presentations have already been given by Gottfried Mandlburger, Camillo Ressl, Tomas Thalmann (see photo right), and David Simböck (see photo left).
The conference will already conclude tomorrow morning – a compact but inspiring event!

Under the motto “Geospatial Image Data and Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Living Environments”, the three national societies for Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, and Geoinformation are meeting this week in Basel. Our department is also taking part with exciting contributions!

Our highly esteemed colleague, Prof. Gottfried Mandlburger, was appointed as a full professor of Optical Bathymetry at TUW in April 2025. Last week, he delivered his inaugural lecture entitled "Optical Hydrography: Charting the underwater world with photos and laser scans." (1/3)

Last week's #HYDRO24 conference in Rostock (🇩🇪) was 🤯and two of our PhD students could present their latest research: 🌊📷 Laure-Anne presented latest results on her water surface reconstruction 🫧🌱 Jan showed his automated aquatic vegetation detection using LiDAR 👏
