Side note: Threats of military action notwithstanding, worth noting that any Christians fleeing religious persecution in Nigeria could not, at present, enter the U.S. as refugees, as the U.S. refugee program has been almost entirely frozen by Trump for months — save for Afrikaners from South Africa.

it seems bad to me that basically outside of Obama, the amount of people in the Democratic Party who can basically give a good speech is like a list of 10 people
"Wife mad at you? DEI." is phenomenal work.
Obama: They never miss a chance to scapegoat minorities and D.E.I. For every problem under the sun. You got a flat tire? D.E.I.. Wife mad at you? D.E.I..

personally I just think it’s funny how I was raised conditioned to think Ukraine is inferior to many western countries who are now flattering monsters while using Ukraine as a shield that happens to have a beating heart. Turns out the disillusionment hits both ways

themselves really is a form of support, funding, arming, or whatever else you could call it.
I'd also add that a lot of the time when people say we're "funding" Israel (or Ukraine, for that matter), what they're really referring to is either direct sales or transfers of arms.

In the case of a country like the UAE, where money really is no obstacle, selling them equipment they can't produce
That's true. But I would argue it's a lot easier, domestic public opinion wise, to stop arm sales to the UAE to leverage them than it would be for Israel (though that's changing rapidly).
Certainly our role in supporting the UAE and, by proxy, the RSF is much smaller than with Israel, but it's certainly not negligible.

Particularly when we have mechanisms to suspend sales.
Direct fund transfers are not the primary means of supporting and arming a state - arms sales certainly are:

I get fairly frustrated that Sudan (and our role in the conflict) doesn't get nearly as much attention it deserves, but, frankly, everyone is pretty guilty of that.

the assumptions made about the target audience by making the first two items "OnlyFans' and 'child support' are kind of incredible

our governor, brian kemp, is refusing to use georgia’s record surplus to cover the SNAP gap.

i’m headed out to load up on walmart gift cards and foodstuffs to donate for families that need help. what r u doing to help today? share your story to peer pressure others
Which is all to say - we're not uniquely oppressed (which lol, lmao), we're just uniquely stupid.
The more fair argument of why this hasn't happened is more about the lack of cohesive mass political movements in the US and the fact that ~35% of the country is down for this bullshit. And the other ~30% doesn't like it but doesn't care enough to do anything about it.

i genuinely cannot stand actual european elites condescendingly explaining american public opinion to americans. reminds me of when some british lady IRL tried to tell me she understood southerners better than i ever could, a southerner who lives in the south.
The educated liberal big city US folks outraged at Trump's renovation of Lincoln bathroom really need to scroll some Facebook of their less established relatives and friends to see what kind of aesthetic resonates with Trump's target audience.
