Trump took office with a Israel-Hamas ceasefire in place, then announced a vision for Gaza as a US-owned resort, with most Palestinians living there gone. Israel restarted military ops in March and imposed famine. Thousands of dead Palestinians later, the Trump admin helped broker another ceasefire.

If the ceasefire holds, the administration deserves much credit. But the fixation on Trump getting a prize distracts from things that actually matter.

(continued) The Exclusion Act was in effect. Immigration officials took the time to telegraph Houston. The sheriff checked the address. His business partner had sold out and closed the business. Without the proof, he was denied landing and set back.

Two things stuck with me:
1. All the names in the ship manifests that began with "Ah" name. The use of the prefix is still discussed among researchers.

I was told I was the first person to go throught them since Ruthanne Lum McCunn (author of Thousand Pieces of Gold).

This was the 1980s. I was a graduate student in Library Science. A white girl from Wyoming.

I did an internship in the National Archives, Seattle, where my task was to review the immigration records for Astsoria, OR, Seattle, WA, and Blaine, WA, so that we knew what sorts of records were include as related to the 1882 Chinese Exlusion Act.

Tech bros and Christian nationalists are aligned: make people desperate enough to not question Christian nationalism and sign up for indentured servitude in a tech bro network state.
Christians have God and the prosperity gospel. Tech bros consider themselves gods.

News sites like the click-bait drama Trump engenders. It is their business model. Democracy, where we sit down and negotiate solutions, is not "news worthy" because it is adult behavior rather than a sundowning grampa spectacle.
