That is unusual. Maybe there is some advanced metric that would explain that ? I’m guessing a combination of poor run support and a lot of unearned runs from errors, walks, hbp, etc. Possibly poor relief pitching was a factor too.

I watch some shows on MSNBC but take everything with a grain of salt. I mostly watch independent sources on YouTube. I worry about Trump extorting and pressuring YouTube.

Tiant was fun to watch reminded me of Cueto with that funky delivery. Things didn’t work out too well for Denny McClain. Pretty sad figure.

You’re right Stargell and Hernandez tied. Winfield was 2nd in voting then I guess.

Yeh definitely a terrible fielder. Hernandez hit .344 that year. Dave Winfield actually led in WAR (8.3) that year, finished 3rd in voting. Meh, he was a Padre.

Yep. Marichal had a lifetime era of 2.89 too which is incredible. Great pitcher but Koufax and Gibson were off the hook.

Yeh. Looked it up. 1979 with the cubbies, .288, 48 hrs, 131 RBI. Great year . He finished 11 for MVP votes, strange. He was a terrible fielder and had a reputation for being an asshole.

They had Orlando Cepada too who they could not a find a position for. He didn’t want to play in the outfield and they had McCovey at 1b.

Don’t think he belongs. Not betting on games is the cardinal rule in baseball. Not that hard. He lied his ass off about it too. Great player. His performance is deserving of the HoF but he mostly compiled numbers by being a good hitter for average for a long time. Not a great all around player.
