Even my main reason for avoiding it turned to be no big deal! Maybe there’s a threshold where it drops off, but even having 3 hard inquiries in 3 months barely dented my credit and is even starting to help by reducing my credit utilization.

I’m guessing the answer is sign up bonuses and it’s kind of insane to me how easy it is to take advantage of them and yet the SUBs are so high presumably because so few people do take advantage of them. Like if we all had no aversion to “churning” they’d offer much less.

I think people are underrating the possibility this is about something other than objecting to pressure to use AI. That very well could be it but there’s probably lots of other things it could be too.

I’m curious what the like economic explanation is for why there isn’t a ton of profit in manufacturing new cars but there is in being the bank to finance them.
