Nadia from London has an idea that sounds such fun you'll be booking a day out asap.
"I've always loved museums," she says,
"but they can be overwhelming for children. For decades now, I've done something called 'playing postcards'
We do
the museum backwards, visiting the gift shop first. Each child gets to choose three postcards. Then they take it in turns to find that particular artwork in the museum and give us a little information about the piece from the details on the postcard, or from any gallery plaque. At the end of this treasure-hunt-style activity, we vote for our favourite in the cafe."

Good to see the Giant Pumpkin of Leighton Buzzard is still there and still larger. It has now had its bird-protection canopy removed, presumably because unless they’ve introduced Andean condors to Bedfordshire recently, nothing is getting off the ground with it.

For big vegetable enthusiasts who travelling on the West Coast Mainline anytime soon - there is an astonishing pumpkin growing at the south end of the allotments on the right hand side of the line (heading north) just before Leighton Buzzard station. It must have the diameter of a bicycle wheel. 🎃

I feel like someone in DB HQ had seen the old British Rail ‘We’re getting there’ campaigns before they went for this idea. Similar sort of ‘we know we’re far from perfect, we can laugh a bit at ourselves, we’re working on it’ concept. Frankly, GBR should do something similar when fully launched.

As a DB sufferer/fan, I love these. Particularly episode 5 (because I can understand most of it!) where rather than admit the coffee machine is broken, the BordBistro guy comes up with reasons why each passenger shouldn’t have coffee (‘From a postcolonial perspective, coffee is problematic, nein?’).

We have - happily - never got into that whole US debate on whether burning the national flag is free speech or not, but I’d be fascinated to know if Jenrick would walk into court with someone who took a cigarette lighter to the Union flags he was attaching to lamp posts the other week.
